The Hunger Games

I went to see The Hunger Games yesterday and the film was great. The only complaint I have is that there was not a lot of fighting in it. That probably sounds ridiculous though since about half the film was fighting and trying to survive.

However, before watching the Hunger Games about a year or so ago I watch Battle Royale, which is a Japanese film about a class of 42 students fighting to the death and in that film they spent maybe 25 minutes explaining everything and getting the students ready to fight, the rest of the film (90 minutes) was the students fighting to be the last one standing.

So when you go from that to watching The Hunger Games where the training and introduction is longer (100 minutes or more) and the fighting does not last nearly as long (45 minutes or less) as Battle Royale, it's just different. I guess I expected less intro. and more violence. Overall, the Hunger Games was a good and interesting film however, in my opinion Battle Royale is better. I can't say that I would want to watch the Hunger Games again for a long time, where as I could watch Battle Royale one Friday and want to watch it the next week.
The Hunger Games was a family friendlier and toned down version of Battle Royale. I would definitely watch the Hunger Games again on a sick day or something. However, I wouldn't watch it on a Horror or Scary film night like I would Battle Royale. What do you think: The Hunger Games or Battle Royale?

Gallagher Girls

The latest of the Gallagher Girls books is on the shelves and it's called Out of Sight, Out of Time. After reading the synopsis on Ally Carter's site I just can't wait to get my hands on that book. It'll be done as soon as I get it.
I've been reading the Gallagher Girls series for about a year now and they just keep getting better. Ally Carter is definitely one of my favourite authors. Maybe that's just because she writes about spy schools where the girls kick butt. My friends and I love these books and I'm sure we're not the only ones, especially when the book has an incredible teaser trailer like this:

Man, I have the biggest love hate relationship with teaser trailers. They make you ask too many questions and give you no answers. It's not fair, but they look so cool that you just have to show them. What do you think?

There's only one thing I know for sure and that's that creating teaser trailers for books is genius.

Is Google God?

There is a religion where Google is God. You may think I'm joking but it's actually true, there's a site called http://www.thechurchofgoogle.org/ where it discusses their beliefs, proofs and a holiday known as Google Appreciation Day that is coming up this September 14th. The date of it's creation.

Bertrand Russell once said "If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time."

This would be saying that, Google could be God. Couldn't it?

TV is a Teens Life

When talking to anyone in my Grade the TV references are everywhere!
The most popular being towards The Big Bang Theory, The Vampire Diaries, House, The Lying Game, Switched at Birth, Criminal Minds, Bones and CSI (the various versions). And more are coming, I can see Person of Interest, White Collar, Doctor Who, Once Upon A Time and The Secret Circle quotes coming in the near future.

The ones I watch religiously are: House, The Big Bang Theory, The Lying Game, Switched at Birth, White Collar, Flashpoint, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Criminal Minds, Bones, Person of Interest, The Secret Circle, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Merlin, Haven, Blue Bloods, Doctor Who and Once Upon A Time.

I've been waiting eagerly for Doctor Who, Haven, Merlin, Flashpoint and Bones to return. Wow, I'm displaying myself as a TV junkie.Well, I suppose that's OK, my friends are too. I guess that explains why there's so many TV references used when I'm with them.

The Bourne Legacy

Cite

Coming in Late on the Jason Bourne Program, I heard about a forth one coming out called the Bourne Legacy. So, I decided to get myself educated. There are three movies about Jason Bourne currently and I just started watching them this weekend. I've watched the Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy and am currently working on watching the Bourne Ultimatum.

Official Trailer

From what I've seen thus far, this is one of the few series of movies that has continually been good. That's hard to find. Personally, I think the only series that's really nailed it for consistently having great films is the Harry Potter series. The last one being the best. I'm expecting this to be the same for the Bourne series.

This will be the first film without Matt Damon, how's that going to work? I suppose if Bond can do it, so can Bourne, but I don't think this is the same Bourne. It's coming out August 3rd no matter what and it will definitely be one of the must sees, so I'll just have to wait. I'm just hoping this doesn't screw things up.

The questions that the film arises and the shocking answers, if there are any, make for a thrilling film every time, regardless. So, I'm going to remain positive about this change. Don't you just love spy movies?

I DID IT!

I fixed the title of this blog all by myself! I just needed to Google what to add to the html and change the header from center to left. But I can do it now! I figured it out all by myself, but I think I'll still go to mom for the most part. She has skills.

I find it amazing, though. How figuring one thing out can make you feel like Garcia did in this clip, proud and like a genius.

How much we know about Whitney?

Everyone knows that Whitney Houston is no longer with us. Unfortunately, not many people know who she was, at least, not many of my peers.
I asked my friends if they knew that Whitney had passed on? They all answered yes and talked about the Grammy's. I asked my friends if they knew who she was? Any songs she sang? They could tell me that she was a singer. They couldn't tell me ONE song that she sang or anything else about her. Except a few who mentioned that they had heard that she died of a drug overdose.
I find it disappointing that such an amazing singer and a woman who was clearly loved may be remembered or thought of as a druggie or just "some singer."

The tribute to her at the Grammy's was beautiful. The ones who thought of the Grammy's all talked about how nice her tribute was and the stunning and emotional performance by Jennifer Hudson.
My hope is that Whitney will be remembered as the incredibly beautiful singer and woman that she was and not by the various rumours around her death.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston
